C, April 6, 1909 The arrangements for the big Seed Corn Day, to be held for Rowan county have been changed in. one particular, that of the place of meeting. It has been thought best, for the convenience of those who may attend, that the court house in Salisbury would be a more suitable place for the gather ing than the fair grounds. The business men of Salisbury, as veil as the farmer, are invited and urg ed to be present on this occasion. All good people are interested in the success of the farmer and will lend encouragement to any move ment that makes for his advance ment. If the success of this year's cel ebration, at Charlotte, of the signing of the Mecklenburg decla ration of independence, is to de pend upon the fact that President Taft is to be the centre of worship there, here is hoping it will be a j most signal failure. The good people of North Carolina, and the South generally, the section that naa so wouaeriuiiy progressed, and is now coming into its rightful position, financially, commercial- y and otherwise, because of its loy alty to Democracy and in spile of malicious national Republican aws and administrations, owe it to hemselveB to stand true to the aith of the fathers, to the immor tal principles of the Southern Democracy that has protected our and, our homes and institutions, and steadily refuse to counten ance, encourage or aid in any manner those who are now making such desperate efforts to proselyte among our people through the agency of President Taft or by the little offices that he has to give. Mr, Taft's successful barter with the, trusts, combines -aud Roman Catholic church for the office of president of the United States, does not raise him in our estima tion at all. - 6BAMITE QUARRY. The Rowan County Court, tr roneously spoken of as the "Re corder's Court," which was estab lished by act of the last General Assembly, is now an accomplished fact in Salisbuiy. The first session of the court was held yesterday at the court house. B. B. Miller, Esq., pre. sided, and Kerr Craig, Esq , rep resented the State as solicitor, these gentlemen having been ap pointed by the act establishing the court. There was quite a crowd present, no doubt attracted by the novelty of the thing. Everything moved along4 smoothly and busi ness was dispatched without hitch. There were several violators of the law on hand for trial and these had justice meted out to them. Herewith is a list of the c tses dis posed of and the names of those who had the doubtful, distinction of figuring aB defendants at the first session : Dave Love and John W. Dent, assault with deadly weapon. In this case knives had been brought into play but nr serious injury re sulted. tThe defendants pleaded guilty and Dent was fined $5 and Love $10. Mary Brandon was charged with carrying concealed weapons and found guilty. She was allowed to choose been thirty days on the chain g-ng, or $10 aud costs. Minnie Brown, who had been arrested for disorderly conduct and put up a bond for $5 .00, for feited the bond rather than show up for trial. George Parker was in the same category as Minnie Brown. Fred. Sowers paid one dollar and costs for a jase of simple as sault. The clerk of Superior Court, with his deputy, were present and will show up at the leseioDi of the court regularly, as the law re quires. Messrs. Miller and Craige will hold their respective offices until the next regular election, at which time the judge and solicitor will be voted for. It is too early vet to say anything as to-the useful ness of this oourt, beyond the fact that it will undoubtedly dis pose of a number of small cases which otherwise would take up the time of the Superior Court. Dr. Shoop first pointed out this error. This is why his prescrip tion Dr. Shoop's Restorative is directed entirely to the cause of these ailments, the weak inside or controlling nerves. It isn't so difficult, says Dr. Shoop, to strengthen a weak Stomach, Heart, or Kidneys, if one goes at it correctly. Each inside organ has its controlling orins'de nerve. When the nerves fail, then those organs surely must falter . These vital truths are leading druggists everywhere to dispense and recom mend Dr. Shoop's Restorative.
