Southern Railway Scholarships.. Washington, February 2. President Finley, of the Southern Railway Company, announced today that, as a means of supplementing the extensive work being done by the Company for the ad vancerrfent of agriculture in the territory traversed by its lines south of the Rotomac and Ohio Rivers and East of the Mississippi, " it has been decided to inaugurate Southern Railway Scholar ships in the State Agriculs tural College in each State traversed by the lines of the Company. Mr. Finley will take this matter up at once with the president of each agricultural college concerned, asking him to permit the Company to pay for the scholarships and to select the young men to be benefited by them. The scholarship s, which are .o cover the full four-year course in agriculture, are to be awarded in accordance with plans to be agreed upon between the presidents of the colleges and the Railway Company and are to be given to young men residing in counties traversed by the lines of the Company, and who would otherwise be financially unable ; to avail themselves of an agricultural college training.
