Thomas, pastor of the First Baptist Ohuroh, who had . prepared a series of very interest ing and instructive sermons on Romanism, but waB internpted in their delivery by a very saocesBfnl revival, having added over one hundred members to that church, will resume the delivery of the ser ies Sunday night. His subjact Sunday night is a very important one and will be worth hearing, it is: "The Pope, the man of Sin and Perdition." Mr. Thomas re marks are olothed in chaste lan guage, are spoken with that earn estness which devotes siuoerity, and are quite effective. He olintohes his assertions by cita tions from Romish authorities. East anil Sooth Ward Graded School. The citizens of Salisbury held quite an enthusiastic meeting last Monday night in the old court houM. The object of the meeting . was a new school building for the accommodation of the children in the east and south wards. All agree that the growth of our town imply justifies another . building more Conveniently located. "Rev. W. B. Duttera and Messrs. J . C. Keitler. W..M. Rn BKiea, u. j. is or man, r. J rTsaoe A. Lt. Smoofc, Mayor Woodson ana others made enthusiastic talks in behalf of the new school it was olearly shown that the small ohildren particularly need ed a more convenient school. That there were too many ohildren to be located in one building. Dan T ' . nor ut iires, diseases, injuries or atiuuB minis, long waiKs across the city through rains, mud, snow sleet, etc., were detrimental to the children receiving an education A 11 .U , . ue uuiiuren massea in one building makes things too con gested. There ib not sufficient room for the teachers to give pro per instruction. The child at J 1 a i i f DBuuiug sonooi nan a aay, some in the morning and some in the afternoon, renders the time en tireiy too snort, and wastes the child's eduoational advantages The mayor suggested selling the lot on oorner of Lee and Fisher streets, put thai amount in the East Innes street lot, and then build a school bouse. Tk. 1 .. ..ut lunuwiug committee was appointed to meet the joint meet ing last night and lay their claims before them : Dr. W. B. Duttera, Messrs. J. O. Kestler, E. M. Cau ble, F. M. Glover, John Kesler, A. W. Edwards, and W. M. Ruth. Our city is beooming too large to try to have all the ohildren in one school. No other city of any size attempts such a thing. We must arrange for more school buildings, and now is the time when all are wide awake to the situation. " i . ' - 1 -t . Is- - A M M 11 1 1 Kl H C M C M TQ ! A re fuge train carrying six hun dred Spaniards ordered de- portejd by General Villa left Gromez Palacio today and is due-lo arrive at Juarez on Thursday. General Villa still insists that he is right in expelling these Spaniards, because they are unli&e citi zens of ether foreign coun tries. The Spaniards not only exploit the natives but also humiliate them where ever possible. While reports are being constantly received from cammanders of the eight thousand Constitutionalists operating between Torreon, Saltillo and Montery is being made public. It is not there fore known if General Valsco has been captured or not. General Villa told newspaper correspondents that Montery would be the next place at tacked, and that he does not expect the resistance there that he encountered at Tor reon. This seems to be an infer ence that Villa was victorious at Torreon but is no more definite than any other that nas Deen received or tne re sult of the battle. 3 I THE WORLD'S FILM CORPORATION PRESENTS 3 7 0 v J The Maid of Orleans, in rive Wonderful Parts.
