Boger, one of the splendid citizus of Providence Township, died at his home near Union Church, early yesterday morning at the age of 71 vears. The funeral was held from Union Church this moruiug being con ducted by the pastor, L. B. Spracher. Mr. Boger was an old confederate veteran, a successful farmer and a devout Christian. DIVISION FATAL FOR ENGINEERS. Many Have Died Between Greensboro ind . Danville on SoniBsm, Greensboro, June 14. Anotb. r was added to the long line of rail road disasters that have made the stretch of the Southern Railroad between Greensboro aud Danville notorious, early this morning, when Southern passeoger train No. 29, the fastest train on the main line, was derailed just be yond Reidiville, resulting in the death of Engineer John Winga e and Fireman Gale P.ckard, ai o the injury of a number of passen gers. It is believed that none f the it jurei are fatally hurt. A bud rail is supposed to havf caused the accident. The train was speeding southward toward Greensboro, Salisbury aid Jack sonville at a rapid rate whei. the engiut left the track aid plough ed its way into the earth at th side of the road, smashing the ei giue i adly and tearing up the baggage and express coaches. All the Pullman and day coaches ex cept the two in the rear left the track, Engineer Wingate was soon res cued from beneath his engine and brought to Greet s'ooro. When rescued he was alive, but suffering badly from severe scalds. He died at 1 o'clock arid before be could be given medical attention. He was one of the best known and most popular engineers jn ths road. He was one of the few men who had their names in braes letters on the cylinders of their engines. He has had twenty-five years of service. He belonged to that school of engineers in which the lata la mented Kinney and others were enrolled One by one these men have lest their lives somewhere on the diviaicn most of them coming to a fatal end between Greensboro and Danville. His fireman, Pickard, was a young man of exoelleut habits. It was not until late this after noon that the wreck was cleared so trains could pass through. All north and southbound trains today were badly delayed by the accident. The dead engineer and fireman were taken to their homes in Spencer Sunday and the bodies were viewed by uumernua friends aud sorrowing relatives. The fun erals were held Monday, that of Mr Wingate's from the Methodist Spencer Church, the service being conducted by the pastor, Rev, H. U. bprinkle, and the interment was iu Chestnut Hill Cemetery; and Mr. Piokard's funeral was held from the residence of hii wife's sister's, Mrs. W. M. John son, in Salisbury, Rv. Bryo Clark, pastor of the First Presby terian Churoh, officiating. His remains were talcen to -Concord for interment. These wer- men of high standing in Spencer and Salisbury and their many friends keenly feel their loss.
