Hooper, who left here several months ago owing to hav ing gotten mixed up io a cow-stealing affair and being charged with selling whiskey, re turned to the city just after mid-n-ght Monday and according to previous arrangeme its by letter was met and taken in charge by Chief of Police Miller. He was looked up and given a hearing in the county court Tuesday for re tailing. Chief Miller caught two men in Hooper's plaoe on a Sun day morning dividing a pint of whiskey and the evidenoe impli rated Hoooer in the deal, at least Judge Carlton sentenced him to four months on the roads. An appeal was taken and Hooper was placed under a 2UU bond. Mrs. J. B Bradly died.; at her home on West Ocuncil Street yes terday afternoon after a long ill ness. Mrs. Bradley was a daught. er of Mrs . Riohard Ro iche and leaves a husband, two daughters, Misses Geneva and Cecilia, and three sons, Thomas, Felix and Frank. The death of Mrs. Sarah J. Cooper, aged 67, took plaoe at the h .me of her sister, Mrs. -Michael toon, in East Spenoer, Thursday night after several weeks illness. The funeral was held from Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church,. Frank lin, Friday afternoon, being con ducted by Rut . J. L Kirk of the Chestnut Hill Baptist Church, who was aisisted by Rev. C. H. Sherrill of the Main Street Metho dist Church. Mrs. Cooper was a faithful Christian and was highly esteemed. She is survived by a brother, R. P. MoSwaiu of Salis bury, and two sisters, Mrs. O. 0 Winders of Frankliu Township, and Mrs Michael Koon of East Spencer W. H. Deaver, a Uuion Sol dier about 66 years old, died at the home of. his daughter, Mrs J. A. Orr, in East Spenoer, San day ntgbt. The interment was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery. Mr. Duby was a conscientious man, a faithful Christian and a good citizen. A sou and daughter survive. Mrs. Jannett Brown, an aged widow of Chestnut Hill, died eai ly Sunday moruiug The funnral was held from the b)me Monday mornicg aud her remains were laid to rest in Chestnut Hill Cem etery. Mrs. Maud Earnhardt, aged 85, wife of Thomas M. Earnhard, ex-mayor of East Spencer, died at her home Monday afternon from the effects of tuberculosis. The funeral, took plaoe from Christ Lutheran Church, East Spencer, yesterday afternoon, Rev. Geo. H, Cox officiating, the interment I eing in Christ Ceme tery. Surviving are the husband, father, Engineer Frank Ketchie, three brothers, Walter, Ed -and Frank Ketchie, one sister, Mrs. John Miller, of Spenoer, who mourn their loss. The bereaved have the sympathy of many friends. Mrs. Earnhardt left three ohildren by a former has band by the name of Coleman. John Walker, oolored, plasterer by trade, died at his home on West Bank Street Monday after noon and the funersl was held yes terdav afternoon, the interment being in Uuion Hill Cemetery. " W. F. Hunter, a resident of Spenoer, died at his home yester day morning from the effects of a stroke ot paralysis which he suf fered Wednesday of last week. The funeral took place this after noon from the Spencer Baptist Church, Rev. Ca ter officiating, and the intetment was in Chest nut Hill Cemetery. Mr. Banter was 57 years old, a carpenter in the employ of the Southern at Spencer and a member of Spencer Lodge, No. 543 A. F aud A. M A wife, a sou. L. F. Hunter, and a daughter, Miss Ora, survive. The move ment, forward and backward, of the battle lines in the Baltio provinces is almost continual and each side has at various times held the advantage.
