Sheriff Krider ap pointed Charlie Miller as his agent and the place has been closed for the purpose of tak ing au inventory. Brunei the publisher, Andy Smith and others. The new book will be some larger than tlu origiual and will contain a map of the prjoent Rowan Oounty and other illustra lions. Last Wednesday a some what humorous, yet serious affair took place at Kerners ville i u Forsyth County, when Deputy Marshall Jas H. McKenzie and Special Officer F. C. Talbort of Sal isbury, assisted in the ar reit of Frank Snipes, who with his sons had resisted ar rest with weapons. The offi ceie surrounded the home, knocked in the door, but none seemed present except Mrs. Snipes, who delared her hus band was not present. A large wardrobe was noticed to be locked and upon inves tigation Mr. Snipes was found cramped therein. The report in last week's Watchman to the effect that Leo. C. Wallace had purchas ed the Grubb building seems to have been a fact. It is a pleasure to know that this magnificent building is now owned by a resident of the eily. Of course it was pur chased as an investment and the stores and rooms will be for rent when vacant. In the case of FJossie Rose who shot and killed Jack Robo, her husband, Negroes, at the home of Lulu Ellis, on West '. Bank Street, last Thursday night, the coro er's jury decided that Jactf came to his death at the hands of his wife Flossie Rose. She was sent to jail to await a preliminary hear ing. Flossie is a native of Davie County and is said to be a woman of good char acter while it is asserted Jack was mean to his wife. The woman claims she did not know the pistol was load ed and that the shooting was accidental, she taking the pistol with her to scare him. Thft county commissioners are erecting quite a number of steel bridges over the creeks of the county now. Gheen's bridge across second creek, it is said, will be 300 feet long Postal Telegraph Company is placing telephone booths in its various offices through out the country. One is to be installed in the Salisbury office of which Tohn R Craw ford, is the courteous and efficent manager. Prof. R. G. Kizer has re ceived quite a number of books for the use of teachers for the moonlight schools, which are expected to begin about the middle of this month, and he is expecting the text books for the pupils very soon. These books will contain twelve lessons and are free, but in addition to this, these lessons are to be published i n The Rowan Keoobd, copies of which can be had by calliug either at jut Salisbury or China Grove office. A monument marking the burial place of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Boone, was unveiled at Marthasville, Ky., Satur day. A laymen's supper was served at the Empire Hotel Friday evening for the men of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, when numerous ad dresses were made by lay members of the church and others. W. H. Raglaud was toat master and there was nearly one hundred men par ticipating. Henry A. Bostian and lit tle grandson, Grant Freeze, of China Grove, were in town today for the show. Master Freeze is beginning to like the girls and decided this would be an opportune time, to see some of them. The remains of Mrs. J. O. Fricke who died recently and was to be sent to Washington, O. C, for interment, was shipped Sunday after re maining in the chapel at Wright's undertaking par lors since death.
