Grover Atkins, an inmate of the county jail, died last-Wednesday after several weeks illness. Sam K. Sloan, a well-known citizen of Mill Bridge died Tues day of last week from the effects of tuberculosis. The funeral was held from Thyatira Presby terian church of which he was a member Thursday, Rev. E D Brown officiating. The inter ment was in the cemetery in the rear of the church. Mr. Sloan was 42 years old and leaves a wife, five children, two brothers and a sister. Mrst Mary Lulu Smith, of the Grace church neighbornood, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Lake, in Salisbury, Saturday night from the effects of pneu monia. She was on a visit to her sister and was ill only short time. Her remains were taken home and the funeral was held from Grace church Monday morning Trs. Smith was 31 years old.
