N. Carolina Gets 28 Seats At G. O. P. Conclave BIG INCREASE AS RESULT OF HOOVER VOTE Tabulation Is Given Of Number \Of Votes Cast By Parties For Past 30 Years. North Carolina will be entitled to 28 delegates at the Republican Na tional Convention to be held in Chi cago next June, this greater number being made possible by virtue of the fact that North Carolina gave its elec toral votes to the President in the last general election. There will be 21 dis trict delegates and seven delegates-at large selected in North Carolina. Dis trict delegates are selected in numbers according to the vote given the party ticket in the preceding election, and it is noteworthy that all districts in this state cast sufficient numbers of Republican votes in the last election to command two delegates with but one exception, that being the Second, which fell below the ten thousand mark in Republican votes cast. Following is a tabulation of the number of votes cast for each party in all elections since that of 1900: For For Governor Governor Year Democratic Republican 1900 ..._157,750 133,080 1904 _124,120 82,620 1908 _137,000 114,940 1912 _144,500 98,810 1916 -168,380 121,000 1920 _308,150 230,180 1924 _294,440 185,630 1928 _362,000 ,...289,420 The "Off-year” vote by the two parties is given below: Year Democratic Republican 1902 -135,840 68,210 1906 _123,270 77,000 1910 _140,530 94,020 1914 _121,340 87,100 1918 _143,520 _... 83,700 1922 _225,780 141,000 1926 _218,930 142,900 1930 _324,400 210,960 Votes cast for Republican presiden tial candidate in 1928, showing num ber of delegates each district is entit led to send to the National Conven tion, are given as follows: District Votes Cast Delegates First _ 10,639 _ 2 Second _ 6,862 2 Third _ 22,510 2 Fourth_ 29,392 _ 2 Fifth _ 32,347 2 Sixth _ 34,638 2 Seventh_22,664 _ 2 Eighth_ 37,082 2 Ninth _ 41,490 2 Tenth ..._ 57,300 2 Eleventh _ 53,999 2 Total votes cast 348,923 _21 Delegates at large_ 7 Total delegates from state_28 LABOR CONFERENCE CALLED BY W.
