The Government has 1,023,373 em
ployees, and it pays them $1,315,690,
467 yearly.
This was shown in the first compil
ation of such data by the Budget Bu
reau after many requests from Con
gress and officials for the information.
Until now the bureau had even been
unable to give the figures to President
Hoover.
The compilation included the army,
navy, marine corps, coast guard and
officers in the public health service
and geodetic survey. It showed there
were 732,460 civilian employees, who
receive $1,05 5,970,636 annually, while
there are 290,913 persons in the mili
tary services, which cost $259,719,
830.
Salary costs for civilian employees
included the value of quarters, sub
sistence and other facilities or services
supplied by the Government.
The salary of the military person
nel was the net salary of both active
and retired men, but did not include
such allowances as distinguished from
pay.
The compilation showed the total
civil and military employees who re
ceive less than $1,000 a year were
345,3 51, with a total salary of $154,
846,967.
The next highest salary group re
ceives $2,100 and numbers 118,759,
with total salaries of $247,086,923,
while there are 1,602 persons receiv
ing $5,000 annually, but less than $5,
200, with total salaries of $8,039,054.
There are only 134 persons in the
group receiving $10,000 and 32 receiv
ing $15,000 and up.
In the Government service 1,015,
928 receive less than $5,000, with to
tal salaries of $1,271,026,885, and
982,777 receive less than $3,100, with
total salaries of $1,146,574,229. N
In the civilian group there are 24,
186 who receive less than $2,100, with
total salaries of $43 5,431,349.
Employees numbering 699,489 re
ceive less than $3,000, with total sal
aries of $925,748,178, and 727,724 re
ceive less than $5,000, with total sal
aries of $1,026,878,734.
In the military group 220,673 per
sons receive less than $1,000 annually,
while 264,803 receive less than $2,000
a year.

Spencer Precinct and East Spencer Precinct

the creation of said Yadkin Precinct, the said
Yadkin Precinct being hereby carved out of
said Spencer Precinct and East Spencer Pre
cinct.
“Further, It is unanimously ordered by said
Board that the Registrars of Spencer Pre
cinct, East Spencer Precinct and Yadkin Pre
cinct shall revise their respective registra
tion books to conform to this newly estab
lished Yadkin Precinct; that is to say, the
Registrars of Spencer Precinct and East Spen
cer Precinct shall strike from their respec
tive registration books the names of such
electors as are now registered and who re
side within the territory of said newly estab
lished Yadkin Precinct; and the Registrar
of Yadkin Precinct shall transcribe to the
registration book of Yadkin Precinct the
names of all such electors who are now reg
istered either in Spencer Precinct or in East
Spencer Precinct and who reside within the
territorial limits of said Yadkin Precinct.”

default having been made in the -payment of
the indebtedness secured thereby, the under

ning at a stake North corner of the in

Street to a stake on Horah Street in a
ten foot alley; thence N. 47-15 E. with
said alley 95 feet to a stake, W. M. Wiley’s
corner; thence S. 42-45 E. 184 feet with
W. M. Wiley’s line to a stake, his corner
on Church Street; thence S. 47-15 W.
with Church Street 95 feet to the begin
ning corner, situate in the West Ward of
the Town of Salisbury and being a part
of the home place of the late S. H. Wiley,
Sr., with the full right to use the ten

not so as to interfere with the use and
