Ford Reopens Norfolk Plant 1 Taking the upward swing of automobile sales in stride, Ford Motor Company has reopened its factory in Norfolk, adding to the prestige of Virginia industry and I at the same time evidencing its de termination to make 1934 a Ford year throughout the South. All Norfolk was elated when City Manager, T. P. Thompson, recently visited the humming Ford factory. There he accepted the keys to the first Ford car to come off the assembly line and offered congratulations to Mr. J. H. Wood, Jr., resident plant manager. More than 1000 men are employ ed as a result of the opening. This means a decided boost to the combined nav-rolls of the city’s ' industrial enterprises. Moreover, many local firms will gain through contracts placed by the revived Ford factory. The production schedule is set high, to meet the strong demand for the new Ford V-8 for 1934. Total figures for four Southern states released by R. L. Polk & Co., show a 94% increase in registra tion of new Ford cars, January 1934 over the same month of 1933. The Ford total is actually SJ% higher than January new car reg istrations of other low priced cars combined, and 48% of registra tion of all automobiles for the same period in these states. Southern motorists are choosing the stylish and powerful Ford V-8 car. What’s more, they have been able to get prompt deliveries due to the manufacturer’s foresight in stepping up production during the late months of 1933 and in January. With the Norfolk plant running at full blast the Ford Motor Company is ideally situated to meet the unprecedented demand for its product. Ford dealers are enthusiastic over prospects, not merely because the new Norfolk facilities assure vastly quicker and more complete atten tion to cutomers’ needs, but be cause of the timeproved excellence of their car itself. The V-type, 8-cylinder Ford engine proved it self last year. This year it is re find to offer 12% greater horse power plus a hew degree of fuel economy. You are not apt to cure your constipation with salts, pills and tablets, or any habit-forming ca thartic. But you can overcome this condition just by gentle regulation with a suitable liquid laxative. Dr. Caldwell's Syrup Pepsin has the average person’s bowels just as regular as clockwork in a few weeks’ time. Why Hospitals use a liquid laxative The dose of a liquid laxative can be measured. The action can be con trolled. It forms no habit; you need not take a “double dose” a day or two later. Will not irritate kidneys. The right liquid laxative will bring a perfect movement, with no dis comfort at the time, or afterward. The wrong cathartic may keep you constipated as long as you keep on using itl In buying any laxative, read the label. If it contains a doubtful drug, don’t take it. If you don’t know what is in it, don’t chance it. The contents of Dr. Caldwell’s Syrup Pepsin is stated plainly on the label; fresh herbs, pure pepsin, active senna. Its very taste tells you syrup pepsin is wholesome. A delightful taste, and delightful ac tion. Safe for expectant mothers, and children. Drugstores have it, ready for use, in big bottles.
