Henry C. Miller Is Instantly Killed Monday Henry C. Miller, 5 8, was almost instantly killed about 5:30 o’clock Monday morning four miles west of this city on highway 10 when his car collided head-on with one driven by Dan Yoder. Mr. Miller, who owns a filling station near the scene of the acci dent, was taking his son-in-law, Bill Bame, part of the way to Wins ton-Salem after the latter had spent Sunday with him. Yoder lives near Newton, but works at a hosiery mill at High Point, and was on his way to the latter city. The two cars met on a stretch of road that is almost straight and the impact badly damaged both ma chines. Bame was thrown clear of the wreck and was apparently only slightly hurt. I Mr. Miller was a Spanish-Ameri :can war veteran and for years was ;a street car conductor in Salisbury. Lately he has conducted a filling station at Milford hills. He is sur vived by his wife and two daught ers, Mrs. Bame and Mrs. James E. Beeker, the later the wife of a Sal isbury city letter carrier. Barium Springs Has 11 Games On Schedule Barium Springs.—Candidates for the 1934 varsity eleven at Barium Springs will soon report for practice, to begin their preparations for an 11-game schedule. The initial contest will be with Mooresville Friday, September 21. Seven of the tilts are carded for the home field. Only five veterans are available, di vided between four linesmen and one backfield man, but there will be a large number coming forward from the undefeated 1933 125 pound team. Unless otherwise des ignated, the Barium games will bej played on Friday as follows: September 21—Mooresville at Barium. September 28—Lexington at Lexington. October 4 (Thursday)—Child ren’s Home at Barium. October 19—Kannapolis at Bari um. October 26—Mills Home at Thomasville. November 2—Monroe at Barium. November 9—Statesville at Bar ium. November 16—China Grove at China Grove. November 23 (Homecoming) — Hickory at Barium. December 1 (Saturday)—Wins ton-Salem at Winston-Salem. The scientists are studying cos mic rays.
