Homecoming Day Will Be Held October 19th.' ■ -»— -— " ~~— ... . —— -“ i Classes Prepare For Events Day’s Activities Will Attract Many (The Pioneer) The traditional Campus and Homecoming Day will be celebrat ed on Saturday, October 19, with all classes participating. The morning program will begin at 10:30 with the class processions (seniors first, juniors second, etc). The class themes this year promise to be full of variety and color. The seniors, in green and white, have adopted as a theme their class motto, "Not at the Top, but Climbing.” The juniors, in red and white, will portray "The Spirit of Valentine.” The Sophomores, in purple and white, have selected Huey Long’s slogan, "Every man a king, and every girl a queen.” The freshmen in yellow and white will bring "Alice in Wonderland” to life. The costumes, songs, and skits are to remain a secret until presentation on Campus Day. Dur ing the grand march, the band will accompany with appropriate music. r-: . -1 Laxative combination t'olks know is trustworthy 1 The confidence thousands of par ents have in good, old reliable, pow dered. Thedford’s Black-Draught has prompted them to get the new Syrup of Black-Draught for their children. The grown folks stick to the pow dered Black-Draught; the youngsters probably will prefer it when they outgrow their childish love of^sweeta. Mrs. C. W. Adams, of Murray, Ky, writes: “I have used Thedford’s Black-Draught (powder) about thir teen years, taking it for biliousness. Black-Draught acts well and I am always pleased with the results. I wanted a good, reliable laxative f" my children. I have found Syrr t Black-Draught to be just that.” BLACK-ORA^ AT At noon a barbecue luncheon ' will be served on Zartman lawn. The luncheon will be free to all boarding students, but a small charge will be made to town stu dents and all visitors. From past experiences one can expect the food to be plentiful and delicious. A fast, close, and exciting foot ball game is anticipated between Catawba and Hampten-Sidney, of Virginia, at 2:30 o’clock in the aft ernoon, with the traditional sopho more-freshman tug-of-war be tween halves. Climaxing the day’s entertain ment will be the class stunts or skits, which will be presented in the college auditorium at eight o’clock. A welcome change from last year’s procedure will be com munity singing by the audience be tween the skits. This will elimi nate the tiresome wait while shift ing scenery. The concluding act will be the presentation of a silver loving cup to the class receiving first place, according to the system of judging. The decision will be made by three local judges. A very large audience is expect ed to be present to witness the combined activities of the day. All the parents, friends, and relatives of the students are welcomed to come and spend the day. Especial ly, the alumni are strongly urged to return and enjoy the festivities. The president of the Alumni As sociation, Mr. Foil Essick, has an nounced that the executive com mittee of the association will meet during the day, at which time im portant new busine-s will be dis cussed. Their parents wiped out the supply. JUST like the early Dutch settlers, these pupils of Theresa Durlach’s school in New York City make their own jelly. Dressed in authentic cos tumes of the Dutch period when New York was New Netherlands, these young people whose schooling is of the most realistic nature, spent a day living as the early Dutch did. They were very fond of preserves, especially jelly and jam. Ask any pupil of the Durlach school and they’ll tell you. But these pupils have it all over the Dutch settlers in one way. They make their jelly and jam in the modern shortboil way, and are certain of results. We say this because, before the discovery of Bayer Aspirin, most so-called “pain” remedies were ad vised against by physicians as being bad for the stomach; or, often, for the heart. And the discovery of Bayer Aspirin largely changed medical practice. Countless thousands of people who have taken Bayer Aspirin year in and out without ill effect, have proved that the medical findings about its safety were correct. Remember this: Genuine Bayer Aspirin is rated among the fastest methods yet discovered for the relief of headaches and all common pains ... and safe for the average person ! to take regularly.
