Barger, on October 27, 1923, and registered in book 68, page 544, in the office of the Register of Deeds of Rowan County, North Carolina, Ten Games On Football Schedule For ’36 Season Six Games Will Be Played Here (From The Catawba Pioneer) An unusually stiff schedule has been arranged for the Catawba col lege gridders for next fall with six of the ten games to be played on the Catawba field and possibly a seventh, the place for the Hampden Sidney game being still undecided. Catawba will again open the sea son with Western Carolina Teach ers college, this game to be played here on September 19. A pair of new opponents have been slated for this year, these being Roanoke and Appalachian, replacing Wofford and Carson-Newman. Roanoke has never been played before by Catawba while Appalachian is be ing met for the first time since the fall of 1932. Coach Gordon Kirkland will have a full squad of veterans back to start the season next year, the squad including 16 lettermen, with eight backs and eight linemen. The players who earned their numerals this year and that will be back are Meehan, Clark, Pritchard, Mag giolo, Dinges, Goodman, Lundholm, and Witmer in the backfield, and Guy, Kesler, Fuller, Davis, Rector, Zammiello, Reid, and Williams in the line. The squad will also in clude ten or more prospective regu lars from the squad of this past fall who did not see sufficient service to earn their letters.
