Bank Awarded $30,000 From Two N. Y. Estates Raleigh—Gurney Hood, State bank commissioner, got two checks from New York totalling $30,000 in payment of stock assessments due the defunct Page Trust company by the estate of the late President Theodore Roosevelt and Robert T. McCoon, an employe of Roosevelt and Son. The bank commissioner won liti gation in New York state in which the Roosevelt interests fought the assessments. "We are making every effort to pay another dividend to the de positors of the Page Trust com pany, and the collection of these funds will be of great assistance,” Hood said. Cannon Mills Company Reports Large Profit Concord—Cannon Mills com pany, composed of plants in Con cord, Salisbury, Kannapolis, China Grove, Rockwell and York, S. C., showed a net operating profit of $4,539,517.73 for 1935, according to the annual report to stockhold ers, made public. The gross profit from operations was $7,563,719.97 and the net in come for the year was $3,271,587, 61, the report shows. The company’s earned sur plus at the close of the year was shown to be $11,556,303.70. At the beginning of the year this sur plus was $10,326,410.79. Divi dends paid to stockholders during the year totaled $1,975,5 56,577. Current assets of the company are listed at $41,240,5 56.97, in cluding a plant property valuation of $24,883,803.97. Liabilities, in cluding the earned surplus are also listed at $24,240,056.97. The annual meeting of the stock holders of the company will be held in the main offices at Kan napolis on Tuesday, April 14, at 2 o’clock.
