PROSPECTC OF THE DAILY JOCKS ALm
Tat Subscribers this day commence the pablicatioa ia the
town of Wilmiagtoa, of a Uily evening paper ly the above
title. It will be iued every d? (Suodnys eseei'ted) after
the arrival of the BiaiU, so as to give the Tery latest iuUlli
geace from all quarters. The pablishere will also avail
themselves of every additional facility within their reach for
the collection of news.
Particular attention will be paid to the Commercial depart
ment of the paper, and full and accurate reports given of the
state of our own markets, as well as of all others having any
influence upon the trade of this place or section.
The growing importance of Wilmington, and the increas
ing wants of the mercantile community at large, hare teemed
to call for and warrant the commencement of this enterprise.
North Caroliua is almost, if not quite, the only State in the
Union ia whiih no daily paper ij published. California, a hu h
but yesterday was a wilderness, has a flourishing daily prc,
while North Carol in a. has not one within her borders.
Such should not be the case. We Ulieve that wt can fairly
appeal te the State pridf , as well as to the tnterets of our
fellow-citiiens, to sustain us in our prvseut effort to remove
this reproach.
It is scarcely necessary to refer to the politics of "Thk Dai
ly Journal," as it will be under the same editorial manage
ment with the Weekly " WiLMi.xoTn Joi rxai., " which pa
per will continue to be published on the same terms a for
merly, deriving, it is to be hoped, additional intere-t from
the use of the more exteulud facilities which the publication
of a daily must render neeesssry. In politics it will support
the doctrines of the Democratic. party j yet, while firm and
decided in the assertion and maintenance of its own opinions,
will be moderate and respectful towards those who may differ
from it.
Termv The price of "The Daily Journal " will be six
dollars jwr annum, invariably in advance. The heavy out
lay nllendaut upon the publication of such a par will ren
der a strict adherence to this rule unj'rmtiit. A tii-wcckly
paper will also bo issued at four dollars per annum, should u
sufficient member of tri-weckly subscribers bo obtained.
The Daily Journal " is now before thb public. The 1;
bor and outbiy winch its issue entails is vt-ry .ntn.l.l.ryl,!,., ,,.,,
