Tr Vice-President of the Confederate Statue shall be President of the Senate, but slutil have no vote, uuless they be equally divided. . . 6. The Senate shall choose their other officers, and also a President pro temp re in the absence ft the Vice l'resi dent, or when he shall exercise theotficeof President ot the Confederate Stat's. 6. The Senate shall have the sole power to 'try all im peachments. When sitting for that purpose, they 'hall bs on oatb or affirmation. When the President ot 'he Confede rate State is tiied, the Chief Justice shall preside ; and n.' person shall be convicted without the concurrence of two thirds ol tbe members present. . 7. Tbe timea, places and manner of holding election for Senator and Representatives shall be prescribed in each State by tbe Legislature thereof, subject to the provisions of this Constitution ; but the Congress may, at any tint-, by law make or alier such regulations, except as to the times ana place ot cnoosing be na tors. 2. The Senator and Representative shall receive a com penaation for their eerviots, to b ascertained by law, aud paid out of tbe treasury of the Confederate Sta'.esi Tbey shall, in all esse, except treason, felony and breach of the peace, be privileged from arrest during their attendance at the session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same : and tor any speech or debate in ei'her House they shall not be questioned in any other piaee. 2. No Senator or Representative shall during tbe time for which he was sleeted, be appointed to any eivil oflice under the authority of the Confederate State, which shall have been created, or the emoluments whereof shall have been increased during auch time ; and no person holding any office nfTOer the Confederate States shall be a member ol either House during hi continuance ia oflice. Every order, resolution or vote, to which tbe concur rence of both Houses may be necessary (except on a ques tion of adjournment) shall be presented to tbe President of the Confederate States ; and before tbe aame shall take ef fect, shall be approved by him ; or being disapproved by him, may be repassed by two-thirds of both Howes accord ing to the rules and limitation prescribed in ease cf a bill.
