VORE CAPTURES NEAR FREDERICKSBURG. Richmond, Feb. 27th, 18G3. Passengers from Fredericksburg report that the cavalry under Fits Hogh Lee surprised and captured 150 Yankees on Wtdnesday. FROM VICK8BURU. Mobili, Feb. 27ih, 1863. The correspondent of the " Memphis Appeal," dated Vlcksborg, Fab. 23rd, aays : An enormons fleet appeared this morning, larger than baa been witnessed yet from this point, . Every thing look! aa if preparations were almost ready for the enemy to commence a forward movement. The monster force before the City cannot long remain in idleness. Persona well acquainted with the country border ing on the Yazoo Pass and Cold Water, say if the enemy succeed in getting their Gunboats In the Cold Water, they will never get out. An army of one thousand men could bold at bay and deatrey an invading force of 50,000 in that eountry, ' DIED. At the residence of bis brother, in Williamsburg District, R. ZsrrsM, -- A released prisoner gives aa interesting' account of the inside workings ot the Yankee bastile near New Tork city, known as Fort Lafayette, and incidentally mentions the case oJ tbe gallant bat unfortunate, Zar-, rona, who, at an early period of tbe war, received a Colonel's commission from tbe State of Virginia, For the last six months, be has been in solitary confinement. Tbe windows of bis cell are nailed op, to that not a ray of light enters to cheer bis , desolate soul. ' Tbe prison ers know very little about bia, except what tbty pick np from their jailors ; hot tbe frequent visits of tbe physician to bis cell naturally give rise to tbe supposi tion that be is gradually sinking under his sufferings. A. report is now current in Richmond that the Lin cola Government has tt length consented to Zurou&'f release, and though yet unable to vouch for its trutb, we earnestly bope that tbe retaliatory measures adopted by Governor Letcher have bad their (Sect. Tbe atro cities practised upon this helpless prisoner are without parallel in tbe history of tbe war. Richmond Whig. Kartbqaaka at Guatemala.. A letter from Guatemala gives an interesting des cription of an earthquake which occurred there on tbe 19th of December last. The quaking and trembling ot tbe earth commenced about seven o'clock in tbe morning, while nearly all the population were in tbe streets, marching churchward, with music and other proud display ; suddenly tbe music ceased, and all was quiet except the buzz of tbe praying populace, in a halt-audible tone, calling upon " Mary " and all the im aginable saints for deliverance. Probably half were upon their knees, many upon tbeir faces, and tbe rest staggering like tipsy people towards tbeir homes. Tbe earth's crust was agitated like a tea-kettle cover when tbe water has a superabundance of beat. Tbe ram bling continued but two or three minutes, but in that time the wall of every house was cracking and creak ing, and it is said that the clappers of Borne church bells struck merely from the undulating motion of tbe earth, " Antigua," a lew leagues from Guatemala, and which was twice before shaken to dust, is again in utter confusion from Bimilar shakings ; an J so with several other adjacent towns in the more immediate vicinity of one of the principal but inactive volcanoes. In all, however, the aggregate of lives lost will not reach fifty, and tbey are of tbe most pious nuns and priests, who occupy older and more elevated Walled buildings. " So you are going to teach a school," said a young lady to ber eld maid aunt. " Well, for my part, sooner than do that I would marry a widower with nine csildren." " I should nrefer that lile mvaelf." w s the ouiet re ply, " but where is the widower T" General Sterling Price has reached Mobile on his way from Richmond back to bis army. He is to have a "chance," and will be beard from soon. GENERAL NOTICES. DISSOLUTION. THR FIRM OF SMITH k HOBSOar, at Warsaw, has been dissolved by the death of to. H. Bmlth.
