Adams, New York; J.T. Backus, Sche nectady; D. Swing. Chicago; C U, Foote, St Louis; Elders, Louis Clia- pin, Rochester, New York; W ashing ton R. Vermingle, New York City; J. K. Morehcad, Tittsburg. Dr. Xiceolk reported on overtures from different Prenbyteries on various subjects, among which was an oveiture from the Presbytery of Baltimore re questing the AweuiUy to affirm the doctrine of the Church as to Civil Mag istrates' relation of Church and State, and an overture from the Presbytery of Austin, Texas, suggesting some action designed to conciliate the Southern Church, and, if potwiMn, 16 prepare a way for reunion at an early day. Among the delegates to the South ern Baptist Convention that was re cently in session at Mobile, Ala., were the following from N. C. : Hon. John Kerr, J. M. Collins, M. M Welsh, J. B. Boone and J. H. Mills. Judge Kerr was one of the Vice PresidentV and Rev. Dr. Wingate, President of Wake Forest College, was appointed to preach the Intro ductory Sermon next year at Atlanta, where the Convention will meet.
