The enolosed, dipped from the New Oi leans It'cpubllcan, shows truly "the objective poiut" for whiohthe liberties Of a once sovereign State have beeu throttled. The question has really be come a national one. The political complexion of the Louisiana Legisla tnre will determine the right of two B-nntors to their seats in the Dorty filth Congress, making a difference of four votes in favor of tho political artv electing them So that in eject ing the Democratic members of the L flrislature from tne state uonee, tne Bndidrtl party or government the twins are synonymous have, at the terinitiHiion on the part of the admin' ist ration to win regardless of conse qneDcc. When Benjamin Franklin (rest to bis philosophical soul 1) made bis will, he left to trustees in the cities of Bos ton and Philadelphia $1,000 each, to1 bu loaned in small sums to married mechanics of tbe respective cities, to a.-ist them In startiua. in business, the interest to bo compounded for 100 years, at the termination of whioh the aggregate waa to be devoted to public improvements. Thrifty Bostonians have made the amount $182,277, and on the centennial of Franklin's death, fourteen yeart hence, hop to have 408,300. The Philadelphia trustees had but $46,835 last January. Wendell Phillips writes a long letter to the Boston AdvtrtUer protesting agHiust the passage of any "oivil righu" bill that does not insist upon mixed schools. He says the Southern whites will not destroy their common v school system if such a bill is passed, calls their remonstranoes "bullying bluster," and gives as a reason why they can't do it, that they haven't the power. "Six or seven thousand negro ' vols rs ara not' easily ' thwarted," he adds. All of which proves that Wen doll is still the same old ass be alwsys was. Of the various Re pnbtioan Legislatures in session, not one has given the President words of approbation; and a disputoh aunouno iug that tho Kansas Republican cau cus have resolved to indorse him, does not constitute au important exception. Republican leagues and clubs through out the country either dodge the sub ject or adopt resolutions praising the President in terms so faint that they amount to condemnation. Hereto fore when the President, aa the head of the Republican party, took any im portant step, especially in Southern affairs, it has been the custom of his political friends iu Legislatures aud other aseooiations to support him ou hesitatingly. At every former crisis h conld always rely on these express ions of confidence. But at this, the mvit critioal juncture of his effloial life, he is cheered by few approving voioes, and those almost exclusively belong to the men who hold oflloe nn der him.
