The Wilson kmm$ r Wilson. N. C April 11, 1884. HOI TO LIYE. We live in deeds, not years: In thoughts, not breath; In feelings, not in figures on the dial. We should count time by heart throbs, when they beat For God, for man, for duty. He most lives Who thinks most, feels the noblest, acts the best. . Life is buta means unto an end that end. Beginning, mean, and end to all things God. UHDER AH UMBRELLA. Where I gained it, you may seek it. Where I told It, you may speak it, Love that dares both wind and weather. Draws the maid and man together. Reconciles to April vbowers. Hastening Hay(and orange) flowers, Love and I and Annabella AU were under an umbrella Little hands that held fast to me. Eyes whose glances shot straight through me, Lips that murmured thanks for kindness. Cheeks that mocked my. feigned resignedness. Dainty feet, that, when they stumbled. Touched my heart (which' never grumbled) Love and I and Annabella All wore under an umbrella! . Walked we, talked, ltiU Cupid weary, . Hade her answer thus my query: "Why I like the rainy season?" "Oh, because!" She gave the 'reason. Then a blush her dimples hollowed! Love and I and Annabel la All were under an umbrella! Walter L. Sawyer, In the Chicago Current- Complimentary and Tributes. Deserved We rejoice to kuow that our es teemed contemporary, the Mirror, is held in such high lavor by the State press. We print the follow ing opinions ol the press to snow what three leading State papers say about our excellent neighbor. The Wilson "Mirror" has begun its third year. As long as W. II. Blount is at its brad it will be always readable, and full of bright rhetoric and, now. and then, some gems of purest ray' serene. "Star." ' For pure sentiment,, chaste lan guage and beautiful diction broth er Blount has no superior on the State Press. Some of his nights in discription might seem overdrawn, but not withstanding this, there is beneath his flowers a current-ot pure and noble humor. His wit, fluency and sprightliness make him the most fragrant flower of the North Carolina Press. lie is to Journalism what beautiful pain tings are to a wall, or as the golden tints of a glorious sunset to a beau tiful landscape' "Leader." It is hardly , necessary to call at tention to the Ransom Vance arti cel from the pen of the editor of the Wilson "Mirror.'' The title will attract all North Carolinians, who pin their faith to one or other sen ator,, and the reading once begun will not stop whilst anything re mains to read. It is somewhat "highfalutin" Dut is also a most wonderful performance, and the writer is not more than one re move from a genius. If the Reg ister had space, it would reprint the whole of the last "Mirror." not doubting that our readers would en joy as thoroughly as we have done its pages of editorial, paragrahs about politics, news and every-day affairs, all more or less, in the. style of the Ransom-Vance article, and some of them of surpassing beauty iu thought and in expression. If the editor of the ''Mirror is the plain, bluut man who was so welt known to this writer when among "the dispersed abroad" in the . great wilderness of New York, he -Js not only a genius, but one of the very best of good fallows be sides." Kaleigh "llegister. TIME TO STOP IT. Ps Sir or Madam, but don't too bad, ened. .-lour hair is falling oft that' certain. By its use light or red hair may be darkened, thin hair thickened, and baldness often, though not always, cared. It checks falling of the hair, and stimu lates a weak and sickly growth to vigor. It prevents and cnres scurf and dandruff, and heals nearly every disease peculiar to the scalp. As a Ladies' Hair Dreading, the Vigor is unequalled ; it contains neither oil nor dye, renders the hair soft, glossy, and silken in appearance, and, imparts a delicate, agreeable, and lasting perfume. Ma. C. P. Bricheb writes from Kirby, O.. July 3, 1882 :" Last fall my hair commenced falling oat, and in a short time I became nearly bald. I used part of a bottle of Ayeb'8 Hair Vigor, which stopped the fall ing of the hair, and started a new growth. I have now a fall head of bair growing vigor ously, and am convinced that bat for the use of yoar preparation I should hare been entirely bald." J. W. Bowes, proprietor of the Ale Arthur (Ohio) Snguirer, says : " Aveb's Hair Vigor is a most excellent preparation for the hair. I speak of it from my own experience. Its use promotes the growth of new hair, and makes it glossy and soft. The Vigor is also a sore cure for dandruff. Not within my knowledge has the preparation ever failed to give entire satisfaction." Mb. Anops Fairbaibn, leader of the celebrated " Fairbairn Family " of Scottish Vocalists, writes from Boston, Mass., Feb. 6, 1880 : "Ever since my hair began to give sil very evidence of the change which fleeting time proenreth, I have used AVER'S Hair Vigor, and so have been able to maintain an appearance of youthfolness a matter of considerable consequence to ministers, ora tors, actors, and in fact every one who lives iu the eyes of. the public." Mrs. O. A. Prescott, writing from 18 Elm St, CharUshncn, Mass., April 14, 1882, says : " vo years ago about two-thirds of my hair came off. It thinned very rapidly, and I was fast growing bald. On using Aveb's Hair Vigor the falling stopped and a new growth commenced and in about a month my head was completely covered with short hair. It has continued to grow, and is now as good as before it feU. I regularly used bat one bottle - of the Vigor, bat now use it occasionally as a dressing." I ''' We have hundreds of similar testimonials to the efficacy of Ayer's Hair Vigor. It needs but a trial to convince the most skepti- .' calof its value. prepared by Dr.J.C.Ayer&Co., Lowell, Mass.
