Of all the'curiosities ever unearthed
by the immortal Barmim, none can
compare in the most minute decree
with' Millie-Cfrrisline, a daughter, or
daughters whichever the fastidious
please--of the statejof North Carolina,
born at Whiteville, Columbus county.
Here we have a woman withf but one
body, but two distinct minds, borne
by two separate heads. All the in
telligent people who have seen her
can bear witness to the marvelous in
telligence which predominate in both
brains; the conversational powers of
the two heads at once in communion
with two different topics, would suf
ficiently testify to it. But the marvel
does not stop here ; some of the
sweetest duets in the lantruaje of
music are sung by a high soprano
.and pure contralto. Raleigh News
and Observer.. j
This lreak ot nature is even more
wonderfu than the famous Siamese
twins, Eng and Chang, who were con
nected by a cord about 8 inches long
through which the blood circulated
from one to the other. Millie Chris
tine is practically two persons with
one trunk. She has two heads.'four
arms-, tour feet and faces both ways
Both of her faces are of even features
and quite comely and refined looking
She is highly educated, has trav
eled over all Europe and afforded en
tainment for Kings and Princes. She
speaks many, languages and pos
sesses wonderful intelligence and va
ried knowledge. The manager of
Millie Christine is a Mr. Williams, of
Columbus county, who, by the way,
is a relative of Mr. R. J. Williams, of
Clinton, and has made a fortune and
seen much of the world, by means of
his charge. Ed. Democrat.

IN AN ANACONDA'S COILS.
Trick Pony Crushed to Tit' and a
Watchman 'erl -n-" " .V - ; ..
Philadelphia, Nov. ,15. A Imijc - -
conda, on exhibition in a museum here,
yesterday severely injured Samuel
Mosher, the museum watchman, and
crushed to death a valuable trick pony.
The pony was tied to a feed box along-,
side the anaconda's cage. Mosher saw
that the reptile had worked one of the
boards of its case loose and had
stretched its tail out a short distance.
He pushed the board to, believing the
anaconda would pull within the cage
again. Instead it wriggled out and
wrapt itself several times about Mosh
er. The latter screamed for help, and
the pony, frightened by the big reptile,
began jumping about. This probably
saved Mosher's life, for the reptile un
wound itself from him and completely
encircled the pony. Mosher fell to the
floor unconscious, while the big snake
continued to crush the pony until life
was extinct. When a number, of em
ployes reached the scene the snake had
begun to unwind itself and appeared to
be getting ready for more fight. The
men kept aloof until a lassoo had been
obtained and the anaconda finally made
secure. Several of Mosher's ribs were
broken and he was removed to a hos
pital. .
