About twenty people were ser iously cruBhed and bruised. The church stands on West street near the outskirts of the city and an all night revival meeting was being held there. Suddenly the gas lights began to flicker owing to some detects in the pipes. The audience was made up of nearly five hundred negroes, all more or less under religious excitement. The weird flickering of the lights at once ap pealed to the worshippers as a superna tural visitation. A deacon arose to leave and the whole audience then arose to their feet. The lights went out entire ly. One frenzied worshipper shouted"judg ment! judgment!" at which the crowd became wild with fear. A great rush was made for the narrow doors. 1 bcre were cries of "murder!" "fire!" and tome- body yelled "dynamite!" Men, women and children were packed together ake sardines in a small entry. The stronger ones trampled on the weak end rushed out over the proRtratc bodies. Many jumped from the windows were injured in falling and by broken glass. The panic lasted fifteen or twenty minutes, and when the building was lighted up again more than a dozen people lap bruised and bleeding on the floor. Maggie Clark, aged fifteen, was dead, and at least three have fatal injures. Theaccident attracted nearly 2,000 people to the neighborhood and quiet was not restored until morning. -Jacksonville (Fla.) Times. STARTED WITH A j COLD." : DOCTOR IM1S1 i ENGLISH : ". I!
