Therefore be it kesolved, 1 hai we extend to him our hearty congratulations upon his recovery, and hope that ihis brave Confederaie veteran may be spared for many years of happiness, and of usefulness to others. That it excites our pride and gratitude, that the name of North Carolina's Confederate heroes will be forever linked with the fame ol our mothers and grandmothers, in the monument which Col. Home is most generously erecting to the women of the Confederacy. Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be spread upon our minutes, one sent 10 Col. The Republican party used to be able to get together, no matter what personal differences had arisen. But that was before the "spear that knows no brother" was introduced. In the fall of 1910 pork ad vanced to almost prohibitive prices and the result was general protest and general indignation. Within a short time prices were reduced near a conservative level. Now comes the news in press dispatches from New York City that beef has attained the highest wholesale price since 1882 and is quoted ai 13 cents a pound. This is the price of beef in bulk, and a correspond ing rise in retail prices must follow Packers says beer is scarce. On Wednesday, June 5th, at 9 a. m., Miss Beatrice Anderson and Mr. Arthur Gibson Sloan, of Hail--ville, N. C, were united in the holy bonds of matrimony at the lovely country home of the bride's mother, near Aurelian Springs. The marriage was vey quid and informal, only ihe near relaii is of the bride and groom being present with the exception of Mr. '. (1. Gaston, of Lowell, N. C. The parlor of the home wjs neatly decorated with lovely fen s and daisies. In the corner of tl e room was a beautiful arch tastefully constructed, with a sweet bunch of daisies tied in the middle of ihe arch at the top. Behind this stocd the officiaiing minister. Rev. J. T. Draper, who performed very gracefully the marriage ceremony. Promptly at 9 o'clock to li e sweet strains of Lohengrin's wed ding march, played by the bride's younger sis'er, Miss Irene Ander son, of Williamsion, the bride en tered on the arm of her brother, Mr. David R. Anderson, of Wel don. They were followed by the groom who was escorted by his brother, Mr. Steadman Sloan. During the ceremony, Miss An derson very cleverly played the touching "Melody of Love." After the marriage, the happy couple immediaiely drove to WelJon where they left oyer the Coasi Line for a stay of a few days at Wrights ville Beach and other points in the Eastern part of the State. The large number of beautiful presents testify to the high esteem in which they are held by all w ho know them. From far and near have come expressions of good will and this marriage announce ment will be read with interest in this seciion of the State. Mr. Musgrove has a beautiful miniature church in his store.made of plaster of paris, and when a small lamp is put inside it lights up all ihe windows and doors and makes it look like a church indeed. W. F. Butterworth, of Scotland Neck, caught an eagle a few days ago, measuring 7 feet 10 inches from lip to tip. Last week President Bridgers.of the Wilmington and Weldon Rail road, directed Capt. J.
