Cole, of New York, who has been visiting relatives in town, has returned home. A small advertisement inserted in the Roanoke News brought 20 responses wiihin ten days. Mr. H. G. Rowe, undertaker, got an order from Baltimore and limporia for coffins, last week Henry Williams, who lives in Mush Island, lost four of his fami ly in the last two weeks from pneu monia. Mrs. F. M. Shamburger left last week for Oxford. She wa called thcte on account ot sickness in her daughter's family. Miss Carrie Rowe, of the U. S Navy, Norfolk, Va., who has been visiting relatives in town tor the past week, has relumed lo Nor folk. Death oi: Mr. Fennlr -We regret lo learn that Mr. John H. Fennel, of Halifax, died on Sun- o i y morning last in Richmond, Va , w here he had been for some nine. Mr. Fenner was about t8 years old and has been a life long ciuz-ii of Halifax. His health has not been good lor some lime and his being in Richmond was lor ihe purpose of having expert treat ment at one ot the hospitals there. I le .nil be missed in Halifax and we sincerely regret his passing. We learn thai other members of his family are seriously ill with in fluenza, bui trust they will soon recover and offer uur sincere sym pathy in this lime of such severe trial. Death or Mk Geokue Dewey Boseman - Died at ihe home of his brother, in Weldon, of pneu monia followins: Spmish i'dlueiiza, on ItivLiv, O.i Ittiii, George Dewey lSoscnau, in the ..'!.! year of his age. "Dewey," as he was lovingly known hy his family mid friends, was born and reared on his father's farm about five miles from Weldon and was the third son of Mr.W. B. Boseman, a life-long resident of this community. He came to Weldon a Few months ago to ac cept a position in the store of his broiner, Mr. W. J. Boseman, where he did efficient work until about ten days ago, when he was token seriously ill wiih influenza. He was tenderly cared for in the home of his brother and his father and mother were also wiih him, so he had every attention possible, bui Iron) some cause pneumonia developed with fatal results and so while this fatal epidemic has been comparatively mild in Weldon, it has claimed ihis victim in the flush of bright young manhood. Dewey was convened and united himself about three years ago with the m. c. cnurcn, at amiin s, near Weldon, where he has been a con sistent member ever since. He was buried on Saturday at the 'amily burying ground in the Country, the funeral services be ing by Rev. C. M. Lance, of Rose mary, assisted by Rev. F. M Shamburger, of Weldon.
