The temperance advocates say . their cause has never gained such headway nor held such vautage ground as now: The dews at this time are unusually heavy, and delicate people should not ex pose themselves to their influence. Down in Georgia. The Fuclos troupe of dizzy bl'ondus con tinue to ' outrage ' propriety where ever they go. They went in for a desper ate job down in Geogria, that of disgusting the people of Atlanta, and they seem to have succeeded very well, so well, in fact that the lessee of the Opera House in that city had to publish a card in self defence saying he did not know that tho old thing was loaded. 1 The November Meteorr. lhe .November meteors, which are famed for their number and bri1,if,,icy,are billed to appear about this time. In some sections, where the people are but little informed, tlm display of celestial pyrotechnics, when very heavy, , as is sometimes the cjso, occasions great-alarm, the belief takiug hold upon the popular mind that the time for the end of the world has come. These exhibitions are sometimes very beautiful, and repay one for sitting up a!l night to witness them. ' Desecrating the Sabbath. , Many persons arc not aware that it is against the law of this good old State of North Carolina ..o desecrate God s Holy day, but it Is a fact nevertheless for a' that, and especially so in regard to hunt ing, on the Sabbath day, in proof whereof we quote from section 117, of chapter 32 Battle's Re sal, which is as follows: If any person or persons whomsoever shall be known to hunt in this State on the Sabbath with a dog or dogs, or shall be found off of their premises on the Sab bath,, having with him or them a shot gun, rifle or pistol, he or they shall be subject to indictment; and, upon con ic tion, shall pay a fine not to exceed fifty dollars at the discretion of the court, two thirds of sueh fine to enure to the benefit of the free pub'c schools in the county of which such convict is a resident, the re mainder to the informant. Now that reads plain enough, so be ware, yd Nirnrod sir. iers, against trans gressing the commandment and the 117th section of chapter 32, Battle's Ksvisal, if you don't want . to come to immediate grief and punishment.
