Hurt,, having put in an appearance here this morning on the Gov Worth's regular day, it naturally caused an inquiry as to where the Worth was, which inquiry bein directed in the right direction resulted in the follow ing explanation : The Worth left here 1 a sf Tuesday afternoon on her regular trip for Fayetteville, and when just above a place called Sugar Loaf, she ran into an old sweet Kiun tree which bad been car ried into tho river by a heavy land-slide. It was very dark at the time, being only one hour before day when the acciden occurred. Tub Reamer lost the upper part of her starboard wheel-house and a portion of a stateroom on the same side. No one hurt. Charged 4 With Highway Rolibery Yesterday Ghiet of Police JJrock re ceived a telegram from Ed. P. Powers, J. P., of Fayetteville, requesting him to ar rest John Williamson, white, who stands charged with highway robbery and who was supposed to have come to this city. This'morning, about 2 o'clock, Williamson was arrested on the Steamer A. P. Hurt and carried to the guard house where he will bo kept until the legal course has been gone through with. Williamson, who is a young man of fine address and prepossessing appearance, seems to bo much surprised at such proceedings against him and begs that he maybe sent back to Fayetteville immediately and have the matter "cleared up" as he feels certain it is a case of mistaken identity. Ho states that ho had a long conversation with Justice Powers ju&t before leaving Fay etteville. Captain Worth, of tho steamer Hurt, received a telegram appointing him to taAft Williamson to Fayettevile to-day. Big Tire In L,umberton. Wo regret to learn of a very disastrous fire which occured m Lumbertoo, by which Mr. B. Godwin's store and ware house were completely destroyed. The fire was discovered about 4 o'clock yester day mornimr, and tho store is siipposod to have been -'first robbed and then set on fire. When discovered its flames had ob tained, such headway that they could not bo checked and in an almost incredibly short time the building, with all its con tents, was entirely destroyed. We can not learn the amount of Mr. Godwin's loss but understand that the building and store wqre about covered by insurance. The most serious part of the disaster, however, con sists in the fact that' Mr. Godwin lost all of his books and papers, among the latter a number of valuable crop liens, and it is feared that in thj& way his loss will prove a heavy onk Hotef Arrivals.
