There were 732 bales of cotton on the yard at that point of which it is estimated that there was a not loss of from 20 to 25 'percent. The bales were very large and would probably average 500 pounds at $50 a bile and the loss, therefrom, must have approximated $8000. The cotton was he'd fur trans portation to the Com press and was insured on bills of lading receipted by tho Master of German vessels, now in port consigned to Messrs. E. Poschau & Westenuann, whioh aro hero waiting for cargoes of com pressed cotton. It was fully insured in the Home, of New York, Howard of New Yo k, Boyal, of L'rvrpo A, and Or.en, f Hartford, Nor wood Gilts, Agent, the Im perial, of London, and the Manhattan, Of, New York, J. A.
