The City Tresasury was reinforced this morning,by a couplo of dollars, a fine from two individuals who were guilty of disor derly conduct the night before. Another unf Drtunate, who was trying to cany loo much benzine, and became so overloaded that be had to be taken care of by the Knights of the Star and conveyed bodily to the guard house, is this morning cooling off on His Honor's favorite diet, bread and water.iu the solitude of his last Dight's rest ing place. j P A Horrible Affair. We have just learned some of the par ticulars of a horriblo accident (which oc curred near Lilliput, in Brunswick county, about 13 miles below this city, last Mon day night, by which four men came to a fearful death. On Allen's Creek, near Lilliput, the four men were employed by Mr. A. G.Cali in getting out timber. They camped at night in a rough shanty they hatl constructed, made foin 'oga and brushwood, with earth heaped on top to keep out the winds and to give solidity to the structure. Not appearing at work yesterday the camp was visi ted and there a horriblo sight was encou.itercd. The hut had fallen in and been burned and thn bodies of the four men, liribly dis figured by the firo, were found in tho ruins. It is no, known whetherjthey wer killed by the falling of the hut or wore crushed by its timbers and thus, una'.jlo tu extri cate themselves, were burn;d to te4b, but the: latter is feared. All oftlw bodies were badly disfigured by t'ae fire, one man having-had his legs b arned off to the knee8. The names of theunfortunate parties were D. Ilcnry Tharp. "white.ageij about 23 years, George Devane, white, about 25 years old and Ac ant Badham and Dallas Williams, both noloi ed, aged respectively about 20 aud 25 y oars.' An inquest was held yesterday w.hen ine bodies of the whites wero identiiicd, but the colored nieu were to burued and dis figured and crisped by tho fire that recog- nition was utterly impossible oiad their identity was only established by tl ie fact that they xvcre known to have; oocupied the hut. The verdict of the jurty was in accordance with the facts iu so far as they are known, as described abowe. It is one of the most horrible affair we s iavc ever been called upon to chronicle-1 Fashion Notes. . - . i One of Worth' latest importations' 'Us a itloi pistachio colored silk, with pale colored waistcoat, embroidered with gay. iloiyars of every hue. The basque meets irrj .a point over the waistcoat, forming a he; jvrt shape on the bosom. i The very latest in hosiery is black silk stockings elaborately .embroidered wit.b clair-de-iune beads, presenting quite a. sparkling appearance. Many ladies, how ever, object to these beads, because they 1 hurt the foot, and the pattern gets tabooed on it; for these there ar3 insertions of black lace insteps, j , The latest novelty in scarfs are of India crepe, embroidered with silk in all the Oriental shades. 1 The latestashion for handkerchiefs is to have them made to match exactly the . .j collars aid cuffs worn. ' Feathers, arranged in bands, form a beautiful trimming. ' A fringe of Mara bout tips is exquisite on an evening silk. Bronze-brown and bronze-green are leading colors. r j Clasps, such as are wurn to fasten wraps, are now used in holding drapery Insects are also vorn in the hair. They seem almost to . flutter oh their velvety couches. G ilt and enamelled emblems of birds have been introduced on velvet head gear, some pinioned down by minute ar rows, somewhat bent, to show that ihe missile was light and the prey heavy hearted. A handsome feather for a drcsa hat is mado of India cock's tails anil lopb more tail feathers combined- r Skirts are worn short in front and gro w longer and longer in the back. Russia leather fans, mounted with aiEk or satin, in all the new dark, rich colon' are very popular. , First of the Season. i Tho first shad of the season were offered for sale in market this morning and were bought by 'Mr. John Carroll, of the Cof- mopolitan, for $3 a pair, there being but one pair of them. They were caught yes terday . in the river, near the city, by Messrs. Mills and Crowley. It is very early for these fish. - The Great Sothern.
