Messes. Editobs St. James' Church this afternoon was the scene of the most brilliant wedding of the season. Miss Lily VanBokkelen, only daughter of A. H. VanBokkelen, of this city, was married at 5 o'clock, to Mr. Eugene Wiggins, sen of Mason Li. Wiggins, .Esq., ot Halifax, a venerable gentleman of the old regime, who is familiarly known to your readers in Halifax, Nash and Edgecombe sjs the old Senatbr. The Church was crowded with invited guest?, and the bright rays of the afternoon sun, slanting through the richly stained glass windows, mingled with beau tiful eflect with a blaze of gas jets. The bride's maids and groomsmen were: Miss Minnie VanBokkelen.of New York, and Mr. Louis P. Davis. I Miss Isabella Davis and Capt. F. M. Knowles. I Miss Adele Smith and Mr. Jas. W. Lippitt. ! j Miss Etta VanBokkelen, of New York, and Mr. Edward liters. ! Miss Nida Brown and Mr- A. U. Kelly. Miss Eliza Anderson and Mr. Wm. Lat mer. Miss Meta Dav's and Dr. S. S. Everitt. Mr. Wiggins entered with Mrs. Van Bokkelen. The bride, who was, and well deserved tp be, the cynosure of all eyes, entered on her father's arm. rIhe impres ive ceremony was performed by the Rec tor, Rev. Dr. A. A. Watson. I observed among the audience the Rt. Rev. Thos. Atkinson, Rev. Dr. Patterson and Rev. Mr. Morelle, as representatives of the clergy. j The bride's dress I am sure your lady readers will not object loathe paragraph 1 am going to write, and the gentleman, you know, can skip it if they are not in terested was of pale silvery silk of one of the indefinable new colors, exquisitely made by a Gotham artiste. It fitted'the sylph-liko form of the wearer perfectly, The arrangement of the bride's coiffure was a master piece of somebody's deft fin gers. Crowning its maze of golden col ored puffs and tiny curls was a spray of orange blossoms, which caught the folds of a delicate veil that enveloped the entire figure in a gossamer sheen of misty white. Mendelsohn's Wedding March was per formed on the organ as the party entered and left the church, and during the cere mony one could catch the faint murmur of a melody played on the softest diapa son organ stops. The bride and groom leave on the next train for New Orleans which city they will reach in time for the Mardi Gras festivities . The sincere good wishes of hosts of j friends will follow them, and many an earnest response to the prayers in the inimitable marriage service of the Episcopal church; has been uttered for them. As the utterance of congratulations and good wishes is the order of the hour; let me in (conf elusion, repeat what everybody says: Prt-eminent success andunwer sal goodwill for the Observer i 1 - Cosmo. One of our hopeful ministersjsays, that he has no doubt that the time will come when the members of a church choir will 1 1 behave just as well as other folks ..
