Mr. Thomas Bullard, ot Sampson county, who was stricken with paralysis on Tues i i day night on the steamer D. Murchison , while on his way to this city,1 a report of which appeared in yesterday's Review, is still very low, although, there are now some hopes of his recovery. He is at the Rock Snrins Hotel, near the foot I of Chestnut street, where he is receiving every care and attention possible at the hands of the proprietor, Mr. Robert Maxwell, and his excellent lady. His left side is paralyzed. He returned to partial consciousness this morning, although hiSj speech is much ira paired by the malady, lie is icaretuny at tended by Dr. Thos. F. Wood, and we are pleased to learn that his condition is not so desperate as was at first apprehended. His family have not yet arrived here. The Peanut Question Messrs Gore & Gore, of this City, large dealers in peanut, received this morning a letter from their factors in New York, relative to the tone of tlie market there which we are kindly permitted to publish here for the benefit of the producers , and all others interested. We give the letter entire : - 1 New Yobk, Feb. 25th 1878. Messrs Gobb & Gobb. I Wilmington, N. C. j Gents Yours of the 20th is received. Our market still continues dull for Wil mington and no demand.- It would .be impossible to place any peas to arrive in this-market at any 1 decnt price. We fear you will have to find some other outlet for your nuts besides New York. we keep selling a few of your goods m 3, 4 and 5 bushels lots, but would not advise shipping any morejat present. Respectfully. Wm. D. Clarke & Co. The truth of the matter is that more peanuts were made in 187G and '77 than there were people to consume them. The supply now exceeds the demand and in this case there is always a very low mar ket for any article. Not only have here been too many peanuts raised in North Carolina, but in other State3 as well, the cultivation of them having been more general last year than at any , previous time. Let the larrners put in potatoes or cnufa this spring instead 'of peas and give the demand an opportunity ( for overhauling thejsupply. Wanted to chaw Him. 1 This morning a : c dlored pusson" from the country brought in a flat load of wood and tied his flat up to the wharf at the foot of Castle street. A few hours anoth er "cullored pusson" went down to the flat, armed with a warrant for the arrest of the party from the rural district. The latter got j his dander up and drawing himself up to his full height ordered the man with the warrant off in language which' was forcible though not select. Said he, "Go way nigger; if you come heare Tse gwine to chaw you up like a beef steak, youse a putty nigger ter 'rest me when you can't read de warrent. i ti i Kome heare an' lemme chaw you. The .officer, not feeling disposed to be chawed, went off to get help, but up to the time of our leaving the scene 'of con flict' he had not returned and we were un able to ascertain the charge against the "cullerud pussoh" from the country. 1 Consumution Cured. An old physician, retired from practice, having had ptaced in his hands by !an East India missionary the formula of a simple vegetable remedy, for the speedy and permanent- cure of consumptjon, bronchitis, catarrh, asthma, and all throat and lung affections, also a positive and radical cure for nervous debility and all nervous complaints, after having tested its wonderful curative powers in thous ands of cases, J has felt it his duty to make it known tb his suffering fellows. Ac tuated by this motive, and a desire to re lieve human suffering, I will send, free of charge, to all who desire it, this recipe in German, French, or English, with full directions for preparing and using. The preparation of food with hog's lard is allowed. I Being under twenty-one years of ase. old age, infirmity of health, pregnancy, the nursin g of infants at the breast, and hard labor, are good causes of dispensation from the fast. But good reasons for being exempted from the fast are not al ways reasons to be exempted from the ab stinence. I The Pascal time extends from the first Sunday of Lent till Trinity Sunday, dur ing which time Catholics who have obtain ed the use of reason are bound to make confession of their sins, and when approv- uu oy tneir coniessors, to receive the Holy Communion. A child of seven years is considered bound by the law of confes sion. Parents should take notice ot this fact.'- i Given at Richmond, 17th day of Feb ruary, 1878. F.
