The Democrats of Cumberland- county met in Convention at Fayetteville to-day and a dispatch just received in this city announces that the result is in favor of Col. Waddcll, thereby meaning, we presum, that the delegates are instructed to vote for Waddell. 1 I Camp Meeting i . ! "I i To-morrow is to be a big day with the colored population at the Camp Meeting now being held a short distance below the 'city. The' steamer Gov. Worth is trans porting tho passengers and there is a con tinual crowd on her wharf awaiting her arrival and departure. s The Artillery. i The Cape Fear Light Artillery havirg decided to accept the hospitalities of the Charlottese on! Monday next, Capt. Jno. H. Allen, Q. M., on Maj. Flanner's Staff, left here last evening for the purpose of making the necessary preparations, and the Company will leave to-morrow evening for Charlotte, with about 35 men. They purpose spending but one day in Charlotte and this, with the twoj nights on the road, will see them back in Wilmington on Tuesday morning. Flower Thieves- j A lady who resides on Mulberry street'! between Sixth and .Seventh, informs us that she has become the victim of the flower thieves. They made a raid on her flower garden twice in one week and stole therefrom some of her choicest geraniums, and last night they crept up on the front p'iazza and carried off some ot , her most valuable rdants. Arrangements are now being made in that house to give I them a warm reception the next time they call. The Carolina Central Shops. i The committee of the chamber ofscom merce, appointed for the purpose, hlfis ad dressed communications to President Roberts and Superintendent Johnson, of the Carolina Central Railway Company, asking them what inducements it will be necessary for the city of Charlotte to hold out to them to produce the removal of the shops of that company to this city As yet no answer have been received to these letters. It is learned unofficially that the company will require ( a guarantee of $20,0fj0 and six acres of land to induce them, to make the change proposed. This statement, however, is entirely unau thorized and the figures may be very wide of the mark. charlotte Observer. The Third Xorth Carolina- A Meeting of the surviving non-com-missioned officers and privates of the Third North Carolina Regiment was held last evening in the City Court Jloom, pursuant to call, with Mr. J. M. King in the Ohair and Mr. J. H.iPugh as Sec retary. The object of the meeting, as stated by the Chairman, was for the purpose of or ganizing the survivors of the Regiment into! an organization to be known as tho "Memorial Association, of the Third Regi ment," and this title, on motion, was adopted. i i i A communication from CoL W.
