Col. John D. Taylor, the recent incum
bent of the office of Superior Court Clerk

office, and his successor, the newly elected

C. Hedgpeth, the recently elected Republi
can Register of Deeds of that county, to
qualify, on tho grounds that 'the election
law :did not provide for the election of a
Register of deeds. The matter was ' ar
gued by counsel. Application for a man
damus before Judge Buxton I has
been made to compel the
Commissioners to qualify Mr. iHedgepeth
to the office to which he was elected.
The case will be heard at chambers in
Lumberton at an early date.
