We have heretofore failed to notice tbe last number of this excellent publication for the reason, that not being altogether conversant with the technical terms and phrases used in the profession cf medi cine, we transfeired cur number to an eminent gentleman of that profession, with tbe request that he would lock over tbe Jo urnal, read and inwardly digestf aud then write us a notice of the same for publication. But our friend, who, when the spirit moves him, wields an easy, graceful and fluent pen, and, when the occasion demands, a very vigorous one also, has thus far failed to respond to our request. But the number seems to be oue of such uuusual merit, even to our unprofessional eye, that we are loth to let it pass unnoticed, and would fain mako an effort as a public journalist to testify our appreciation of an enterprise so deserving of success and to record our bumble approval of the interesting facts and matter, even to a mind uneducated in the science of medicine, that are contained m the last number of the Medical Jour tial. 1 Among the interesting, papers are the monthly letters from New York and Paris, the former from our talented and es teemed fellow townsman, Dr. M. John DeRosset, now practising medicine in Xew i'ork city, and the latter from an other talented North Carolinian, Dr. Ed ward J. Warren, who has attained to high distinction abroad, and is now prac ticing medicine in Taris. But none deserve more credit for the success '.of this undertaking than does the able resident and managing editor, Dr. Thomas F. Wood. But for the signal ability and individual energy displayed by this gentleman, the enterprise would never have attained to its present high standing among the periodicals of the day.
