The Governor not Comiuff.
We heard this morning that we were to
b3 electrified and enthused by a visit from
our old war Governor and the wheel-horse
of Democracy in this State since the war
Zetulon B. Tance,!who it waa thought
would arrive here in time to participate in
the Mass Meeting tc-night, but a telegram
was-received at noon to-day from the
Governor stating that Mrs. Vance's 'condi-
tion was so much worse that it was impos-
sible lor him to accept the invitation.
This we very much regret both on ac-
count of the illness of Mrs. Vance and
tbe disappointment the many iriends of
the Governor in this city will feel at his
inability to accept the invitation extend-
cd him. Wc would like of all things in
the world to hear Got. Vance in this sec-
tion just about this time for if there is any
. ..
man in tne state inai can maie an 1
pathetic Democrat Waddell up to the
tolls by giving him a good talk, Got.
pol
Vance is that man.
