After hearing the.testimony in tne case the Mayor, in consideration of its being the first offence, found the party 85 and costs, and thus the city 1 reasury was enriched to the amount of $6.70. The next case called was that of Edward Mabson, colored, arrested by a policeman this morning at the instigation of Mr. W H. Sholar for the larcenv of two chickens w from Mr. Sholar's remises. The case was disposed of by turning the defendant over to Justice Hall for trial. Magistrate's Court. Edward Mabsou, colored, was arraigned before Justice Hall this morning upon the charge of lareeny of two chickens trom the premises of Mr. W. H. riholar and disposing of the same to a huckster at the Market House. Mr. Sholar testified thai be missed his chickens this morning and upon going down to the Market House fuund his property in the posesaion of J. o. Hill, a coior-d huckster. The lovers of Opera Bouffe had ample reason to be gratified in ths performance at the Opera House last night. The Adah Richmond troupe embraces a good combination for this class of per romances. There was a good deal of fun and also fun with a good deal of license. and while notj laying claim to the at tractions offered by Lydia Thompson's LI 1 ... uiouaes, or Mile. Aimee's troupe of Amazons, still there was no lack o Black Crook costumes . Miss Richmond presents a handsome appearance and is very pleasant to look at. She possesses a strong, rich voice which she uses with very pleasant effect. Without the airy vivacity of Mrs. Oates, or the winsome child-like demonstrative ness of Sallie Hollman, she possesses considerable dramatic powers. She very -i i ... cieveriy represented the dual role of Girofle-Girqfla. Miss Jeannie Winston as Mariaquin was very good indeed and is an actress of no mean accomplishments in her line. The character of Bolero, father of the twins, was very cleverly assumed by Mr. A. H. Bell. Mr. Hamilton as Mourzook showed himself to more advantage as an actor than a singer. His baritone sounded very well by itself, but in chorus it failed to accord, showing a want of -that trueness which denotes the perfect har mony. Mr. Morgan as Pedro gave us a specimen of a sweet tenor, by no means strong, but true and mwlodious. The quartette singing by four male voices selected lrora those who go to make up the choirs in such exhibitions was very beautiful and repeatedly encored. To-night we have the "Chimes of Nor mandy which was substituted by re- quest for the "Grand Duchess." A Cocoanut Swindle.
