Mr liandolpb waited for tbe termi- nation of ihese Curistmas holidays, promptly on the fiist day of Jan uary he oidered bis oveiseer to have an the farming utentils brought to ib burnyard. It took all day to s aicb for tLem and get them together from where they h d bteu lying about in t e fields, far and near. The next morning there was a great inspection uf tbe plows, barrows, hoes aud rakes, ai d all that were brokeu or seriously n iured were thrown into a pile. Mr Randolph was unrelenting, aud all the oondemued, including the blind, lame, 6pavined, .fistulated and wind bnken, were mero lessly shot aud buried. As tbe weather bad been quite cold during these days of inspection, many of the negroes, and especial J the old, had continued to p'ay poesum,' and bad never turned out of their cabin to aid iu getting together tue live stock or f aiming utensil .
