Value of Ammonia for Cleansing
i
purposes.
The following useful Lint3 as to the
value of ammonik for cleansing purposes
about the house aud kitchen are clipped
from an exchange: -
The pantry shelves are getting grimy,
or finger-marks around the doorlatches
and knobs are looking daik and unsightly.
For lack of time, they are left day after
day, for it" is hard work to scour all the
time, and it wears off the paint, too. Th
husband keeps his bottle of oil, or per
haps a large, can holds it, for he never
stints in' that. Now, suppose his wife
has her bottle of spirits of ammonia to use;
she takes her bottle of water and a clean
i
cloth, just puts on a few drops of the
fluid and wipes off all the dirt. It is
worih more than a half day's labor, and
does not hurt the paint either. She
could put a few drops in her dishwater,
and see how easily the dishes could be
cleaned; a few drops on a sponge would
clean all tho windows in the sitting
room, making them shine like crystal. It
would take thai stains off the teaspoons,
too; and a teaspoon ful in the mop-pail
would do more toward washiDg up the
kitchen floor than ten pounds of elbow
grease applied to the. mop handle. A
houtewite has just as much right to make
her. woik easy and expeJitious asj her
husband. If she does not do it the fault
is her own, in a greai meauure! ,
