Aocording to previous appointment the young ladies belonging to the Burgaw Female School, taught by the lamented Mrs. Sarah H. Lindsay, met in the Academy on Sanday evening,Dec. 7th, at 2 o'clock. The meeting was called to order by requesting Rev. C. C. Newtcn to preside. Toe object of the meeting hav ing been stated; a m otion was made for the appointment of a committee of five to draft resolutions expressive of the feeling of the school in regard to the death cf their devoted teacher. The, committee having been selected after retiring short time returned with the following resolu tions which they requested Mr. J. T. Bland to read for them. Whereas, It hath pleased the ever just and righteous God to remove from the scenes of earth -to the solemn realities of an untried state, Mrs. Norah Lindsay, the highly respected teacher of Burgaw Female School; therefore be it Hesolved, That while we recognize the hand of Him that tits on the High Throne, in the death of our esteemed teacher, and while we are 'taught' thence in humbler reverence to now oeiore uoiy une, yet we can but shed a tear ol sorrow over the newly made grave of one whose prospects, once so fair, have lately been blasted forever. He: olved, That during her short, but honoiable career at the Academy, her industry and perseverance as a teacher wereiworthy ot imitation, while her ex cellent qualities, kindness of heart, un stained morals, and womanly bearing won for her the esteem and admiration of all who knew her. . That In her loss our school has been deprived of an honored head. the community ia which she resided of a useful and upright member, and the church to which ehe belonged of one of its brightest cruaments.
