Dr James McKee, on Practice of Medi cins, and Dr Tull, on Microscopy aud Pathology, were both absent. Dr Gaither offered the following: Resolved, That the committee appoint ed upon the Edgecombe resolution be in" structed to consider and report in regard to the adrisabllitiy of urging upon the profession and people what action we should take to procure a statutory lien for medical attendance. Dr Wood, at the request of Dr Ander son, read a letter from the Medical Society of Georgia, asking the Horlh Carolina Medical Society to unite with them in forming a new National Board of Health. Dr Wood moved the subject be made the special order for to-morrow morning, immediately after the regular order '-of business. Agreed to. Dr J D Roberts read a paper on a case of hipjoint disease, exhibitiDg instruments and practically illustrating the manner of use on patient, a little boy. Dr.Holmes, of committee on Credentials reported the name of Dr L Hussey, of Du plin county, and moved that he be received into'membership. Dr Wood stated that he was ready to take up the matter of the Georgia Mcdi cal Seclety in reference to the Yellow Fever Quarantine as Dr Andersen was present. Dr Wood . read the bill. It favors the formation of a new Quarantine Board different in many respects from the Quarantine Board now in operation. Dr Anderson favored the endorsenien of the bill. ' . . Because it would be unreasonable to expect anything approaching a perfect National system of sanitation in the short time the National Board of Health has been in existence, and to substitute a new law for the old one, even if it bad equal merit with it, would be to retard the work of sanitary progress if it did not imperil the very existence of the law. Jiesohcd, 2nd, That it is desirable to have a National system of quarantine if possible, and that Quarantine Officers should be appointed from resident phy. sicians ef the port in which quarantine is established. That suitable buildings for quarantine service, should be erected by the general government and such other methods as will have tor its object the carrying out a system of uniform quaran tiae. Dr W G Thomas strenuously opposed the passing of the resolution unless the Society had some guarantees from the National Government, Dr O'Hagan advocated the passing o the i resolution and thought that Dr Thomas misconstrued the intention of the resolution. Dr C Tate Murphy warmly advocated the careful consideration of the resolution and moved the adoption of the same. Dr W G Thomas moved that the whole matter, be be laid upon the table.. Carried. Dr Satchwell made a report of the Committee of the Edgecombe Medical So ciety, which was adopted. Severe storm of Wind, Rain and IialL This city was visited yesterday af ternoon, about 4 o'clock, with a pretty severe shower of rain. The clouds came from the northwest, and looked black and lowering. About the same time, we leara, there was a severe storm of rain and wind accompanied by hail at Meares' Bluff, only three to five miles above the city. The wind atone time wa3 bo strong that tho engineer of a freight train on tho Carolina Central Railway who had just stopped his train at the bridge there, felt apprehensive that some of the loaded cars would be blown from the track, and his thirty-one ton engine be thought woald have the cab taken off. Mr J W Shackelford was the- Chairman of the meeting aod Mr A C. Huggins the Secretary. 'Twentytwo delegates were appointed and sent without ii structions. But the sentiment, we hear, both of the delegates and the meeting at arge, was in favor of Scott, of Onslow, on the first ballot for the Congressional nomina'iori. After that, our informant states that the majjrity of (he delegates expressed themselves aa being in favor, of Judge McKoy.
