A friend at Brothers' Hole, in ren der county, writes to us regarding the execution of a new enterprise by Mr. R. L. Bordeaux, namely, the cutting of a canal on the Northeast river, about 35 miles above this city. It is across a neck of land known as the Horse Shoe, 'is abeut one mile long and 30 feet wide, and saves the boatmen about ten miles of travel. It is washing out very fast, and large flats can go through it now. So swiftly, in fact, is the depth growing that it is. expected that the steamer Clinton will soon be able to make her way through it., Mr. Bordeaux did all of the work at his own expense and it has cost him a great deal in both tim3 and money. The canal is worth thousands of dollars to. the people of Pen der and the adjoining counties, and it is certain that they all owe Mr. Bor deaux a debt of gratitud. Daniel Shaw, Esq., Dr. W. T. Ennett and Mr. Jesse Bowden, our correspondent adds, have examined tho work and pronounce it one of tho finest canals in the State. M&sOnlC.
