excursionists and we are enabled to-day

A correspondent at Whitakes in
forms us of a murder which occurred near
that Dlace last Saturday morning. Geo.
Griffin and Blake Ricks, both colored
laborers, were employed on the farm of
Mr.J.M.Mayo. "Whilegetting their teams
ready for the day's work on Saturday,
they quarreled and Ricks struck Griffia
with a heavy club on the temple, felling
him, and then struck him again on the
back when down. Kicks fled and Griffin
