C, The Firemen's Flc ICIeat Pine Grove; The members of the Little Giant Steam Fire Engine CompanyNo. 1, and their invited guests indulged in a very enjoyable excursion and pic nic at Wright8Tille Sound last evening. At about 4:39 o'clock the procession, headed by the Cornet Concert Clab in the wag onette moved down Princess to Front street, thence to Market and up Market to the Turnpike. Following tke wagon ette, were carriages containing the Com mittee, the President and Foreman of the- little Giant and the -Hook and Ladder Cornpaoy aid representatives ef the Star and Review, and ambulances containing the members of the Compa ny the engine and hose reel bringing up the rear. The procession was made through the streets amid the music by the Corset Concert Club, tke jingle ef sleigh bells, the whistle of the engine and the striking tf the gong on the hose reel The drive to the Sound was indeed a very pleasant tne and was enjoyed by all. Arriving at Wrights ville the com pany were met by Capt. E. W. Manning, who was ever kind and courteeus to his guests. Capt. Manning has a most beau tiful place and soon made his visitors feel perfectly at their ease. The time be. tween the arrival of the company and supper, which was announced at 8:30 o'clock, was spent in lolling on the beau tiful grassy yard surrounding the house and strolling up and down the beach. Some of the party indulged in a sail en the beautiful bay in front of Pine Grove ad the Cernet Coicert Club rendered several of their choicest selections. The supper prepared by Capt. Man ning was all that men whose appetites were sharpened by the drive and whiffs of the salt air could desire. Pigfish were in abundance, and were served up in a most tempting manner. That it was a repast which just suited the ex cursionists was well proven by the very flattering manner in which they paid their respects to it. The Sound pic nic was a decided success, so well had the committees, Messrs. H. H. Kasprowicz, H. G. Latimer and Martin Newman, attended to their duties, and we predict that the Little GianVs pic nic is but a precursor of many which will follow. To the committee and Capt. Manning we make our humble acknowledgments of kindness shown us. Cairo, (111.) Ereniag Sun "And what can you tell about St. Jacob3 Oil?" said one of our eldest sub Rcribers. A Pleasant Anniversary. Last evening the friends of Mr. and Mrs. S. G. Hall called upon them with congratulations on the anniversary of their fifteenth wedding day. In antici pation of the event, the worthy couple had arranged awnings in the grounds near the house which were illuminated by Chinese lanterns. Seats were pre pared under the awnings and this made a delightful and cool retreat where the guests, especially the gentlemen, indul ged in cheerful conversation and tmoJced their ciqars with infinite gusto. It being a 'crystal wedding the presents were numerous, useful and in many in stances really beautiful, embracing al most everything, from a suspicious look ing quart bottle, labelled"Printer'sInk," to a mammoth "Rock and Rye" looking affair nearly two feet in height. Among other things we noticed a -lamp, the shade of which was decorated Jh beauti ful and appropriate designs, the handi work of a young lady of this city, who has the talent and genius of a genuine artist. The tables were elegantly and bountifully spread with tha most tempt ing viands, to which the guests did am ple justice. It was, indeed, a happy occasion, where all seemed Merry as a marriage bell." Soon after nine o'clock the company began to disperse, and in a short time all was silent where had so lately resounded the earnest gratulations and laughter- provoking jest of well-wiahing friends and relatives.
