We saw yesterday, at the office, of Mesrss. Kenan & Forshee, a marvel of ingenuity, which showed much mechan ical skill. It was a small steamboat, about 2 feet long, and was run by clock-work. The steamer is a double decker and is brig rigged,. The rudder is woiKeu oy a cnam irom xne pnoc house, and all the running blocks move easily. The little yawl boats hanging at the davits, can be easily lowered to the water. In fact, everything about the little craft, not excepting the net guard rails around the upper deck, are perfect. The little steamer was made by Master D. M. Connor, a lad of 14 years of age. His tools consisted of an old chisel, hammer, pair of scissors and a jack-knife. The lad displays so much mechanical genius in everything he un dertakes that his friends are anxious to get him into the school of Technology at Boston. He is very anxious to go, and if his talents can be cultivated, he will doubtless make a name for him self. Wc notice a line line of Fancy Half Hose at Dyeus1. t Jarcen3r and Recovery of. ' At the late hour at which we write it is impossible for lis to interview any old citizen on the subject, and as we were not an inhabitant of this mundane sphere, when our grandfathers mort gaged the city to build the road, we will have to do what we never Hke to do, i. e., shut up. A Reliable Company. We published yesterday an adver tisement of the Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company of Hartford, Connecticut. After thirty-six years' successful experience, it has readjusted its table of rates, and embodying every feature of legitimate advantage which time has so far developed, and gives a safe, valuable and liberal contract. Each policy will have attached a ta ble of cash values growing out of the reserve, and the accumulation of Sur plus will be stated each year. . The accumulated surplus may be used in case of necessity to pay current premiums. This gives the greatest amount of in surance the premiums can buy while insurance is needed, and also gives their entire effects as an endowment if insurance becomes unnecessary. The longer the policy runs the greater its value, both as an insurance and an en dowment, and the higher reserve re quired by the assumption of 3 per cent, interest makes the policy just so muoh the more valuable as an endowment. Messrs. Atkinson & Manning arc the agents in this city for this reliable com" pany, and will take pleasure in explain" ing its advantages to any one wishing to insure. . , Ain't Gwino Ge $G."
