I have not known a case of heart disease that -was attributable; alone to ascending stairs. Of course, the first ef fect of running or rapidly asccuding is shortness of breath! That mcans'thelegs and arms are moving rapidly, while the - motion of the heart, -not having caught' up. is 'slower. Soj a load of blood from the limbs is suddenly thrown upon the heart before it begins to movr rapidly enough to dispose of it. This undue burden 'sudMehlyV put "on the heart, and the temporary .congestion of the lungs, cause imperfact -action on their part, and we experience what is known as shortness of breath." An exchange tells us that a new postal law or decision author izes the ..publishers, of., newspapers to arrest any man for fraud, who takes his paper and refuses to pay for it.' This is a fair and judicious law, and should have been enacted, years ago, as a means of protection to pub lishers, for there are lots of persons who will take a paper for a time, and when asked to pay for it will laugh at the publisher and tauntingly defy him to get it if he can. In this manner publishers lose - hundreds of - dollars.' The law is intended to meet just such rascals, and publishers generally should unite in having it unforced. "Lives of great men always. remind us that wo are all subject to die," says an exchange, but never cough yourself . t- -V .
