mer of which, immediately after tl
polls closed, there was a serious affray
between negroes and whites, in which
iho negroes, who were tho assailants
used pistols freely, and the whites re
taliated with a fchowcr of bricks and
stones, which scattered their assailants.
Two white men were seriously - wound
ed by bullets, and several were hurt by
bricks. A woman was also shot in the
breast, but not seriously m injured.
