Mr Speight, the introducer of the bill, called for the yeas and nays. His call was not sustained. Recommitted. Bill to smend section W. chapter 37, Battled Rovisal, in regard to alimony . In diTorco cases. Passed, .and was ordered engrossed. Bill to repeal the law prohibiting the carrying of concealed weapons was put upon ita third reading. Mr Scott, of New JUanorcr, the in troducer of tho bill, thought it ought to pass, and that the citizens of New Han- uvur county especially neeuea it,: ns, many times, the country people,, itf traveling at night on their way to tho ciiy to sell the products of their farms were robbed, and it would be a great protection to them to be allowed t carry a pistol or someting of the kind. Mr Mebane, colored, said that as the Senate had failed to pass his bill to make it an indictable olfense to Bell pis-tols.lbowie-knives. slunaj-shots, etc. he thought this bill should pass, for it did not seem rischt to him for the State to legalize tho sale of a thing and then make it an olience to carry it. Mr Stray horn-The State'does not prohibit any person carrying a pistol or any weapon oi tne kind; tho only pro- nibiuon is in carrying it concealed . about hi3 person, and it seems that the citizens referred to by the Senator from New Hanover can get all the relief they want by carrying their shot-gun or pistol with them. No trouble ior them to hang them up in their wagons where they can be brought into requisition whenever needed. The law which pre vents the carrying of weapons conceal ed is a good one and has been, doubt less, the means of saving many live that would have been lost at the hands of partes io the heat of passion. The bill was tabled. Bill to provide further compensation for witnesses attending maffistrates' courts was taken up for consideration. The bill allowed all witnesses attend ing magistrates court3 ono dollar per day. The judiciary committee recom mended an amendment making it fifty crms per oay, ana only two witnesses be. allowed for every material fact where magistrates had final jurisdic tion. The amendment of the commit tee was aaoptea. upon motion of Mrj barques I Hill, further consideration of the bill Dxn Aurorlta, tons, Thomps was postponed. C03MlCRGlALXmV8; WILMINGTON MARKET.
