the following resolution:
Resolution to provide for the pay
ment ot the tuneral expanses of C. .6.
Evans, late Senator from the twentieth
district.
Resolved by the Senate, the House ot
Representatives concurring:
That the 'Auditor of the State, upon
' the exhibition to him ot a duly certified
statement of the burial expenses of the
lata C N B Evans. Senator from the
twentieth dUtrict. be authorized and he
is hereby direct!, to issue his warrant
anon the Treasury for the payment of
- such expenses. And upon the pros
- eolations to him of such warrant ' the
Treasurer is hereby directed to pay the
same out by any funds not otherwise
appropriated,

Mr President, the value or the servi
ces of a rood man is incalculable.
They are co-extensive with time, nay
they are co-extensive with the endless
ages of eternity. ' When I have said
this. 1 hare said what Mr Evans and
. every other good man is entitled to re
ocive. After a long life of arduous labors
and many sorrows, and doubtless uis
appointments, ho has passed over the
river, and I trust in God's tender mer
cies, is calmly and peacetully resting
under the shade of the trees.

The resolution to pay tho burial ex
penses ot senator Jbvans, winch came
over trom the Senate, was taken up and
passed its several readings.
Air Lenoir offered the lollowing reso
lutions:
Resolved, 1st. In the death of C N B
Evans of the Senate, this General A:
. sembly has lost a member and the
State a citizen of pure character and f
lite lone devotion to his State and country-one
whoso loss will be telt through- j
out the State.
. 2nd. That a copy of these resolution!
is ordered to be furnished to the tneruls
of the deceased as a mark of the sym
pathy ot the House in their great afflic
tion.

The resonltion was then adopted by
the House, but owing to the hour of ad
journment having arrived it was not
tent to tho Senate.
