The total number ot delegates entitled to vote in the convention is 108. and S Prague's friends, who are working like beavers, boast openly that they will elect their man. The Republicans have not as vet commenced the campaign work. : The democrats have presented or axe to present a strong ticket and one liiat will be indorsed by the Conference Committee appointed by the Independ ent Convention. Charles J. George, of lrovidence; will probably be nomina ted for Lieutenant Governor; ex-Attorney General William VTillard Sayles, of Providence, for Attorney General, andDavid S, Baker, of South Kings town, for Secretary f State. A New - port man will probably be nominated for State . Treasurer. Wise counsels have prevailed among the Democrats, and it is stated that Gen. Butler is the nxaa wb suggested the course about to tec taken by that party. . . : Mr. Parnol Endowed. Dublin, March 17- The strenuous attack made by "Buckshot" Forster in the House of Commons on Parnell lftis s arousedthe utmost indignation through out Ireland, and as a rebuke to it and aaarkofthe lyalty and confidence the) Irish people have in Mr. Parnel's leadership, a national testimonial head ed by Archbishtp Croke, Lork Mayor Damson, of. Dublin, and Mr. E. D. (iray. M. P., editor of the Dublin Free man, and jtined in by the leading 'priests, members of Parliament and citizens, is now being subscribed. It is intended to augment the Irish, sub scriptions by contributions . from this rx side, and nearly $50,000 are already in haid for the purpose.- The testimonial will take the shape ot releasing Mr. Parneirs estate at Avondalc, county Wiclow, of 15,000- pounds incum brance upon it, or some other shape to be agreed upon by the National Com mittee who have t he matter m charge. - Tfte Mississippi Floods. The old -town section is still overflowed in some Thi t from f hr to sir feet water over tba farms. , The St. Francis and Logville rivers are tsJUog slowly and there is still great ' inconvenience and some suffering in the bottoms adjacent to theso rivers.'as the fall has not been great enough yet to give any relict to the overflowed section.
