'Irish' Affair.
Londox, May 1 L Nearly all the
tradesmen of Dublin have received a
circular, which is termed -An Analy
e?ofK Snrvifil Juries, on'-Eunteen
Trials under the Crimea Act. Enclos
ed with the circular was a slip con
taining the words : "Woe to you it you
have any of the goods of these jurors,
for yon and likewise they will have the
blood and suffering of innocent people
on your heads." The slip is signed Miy
hook or by crook." A sensation has
been caused by this latest movement on
the part of the lnenas 01 me insu pris
oners. At a meeting ot the National
League held in Limerick yesterday res
olutions were passed denouncinz the
government and the Arrears of -Rent
-and the Crimes act3- Mr. William
O'Brien, member of Parliament for Mal
low, in a speech charged the govern
ment with pursuing a policy of revenge.
He adjured the Irish people to
maintain courage, patience and union
and remarked that there were already
signs that their desires would be even
tually attained. The document sent
by the Vatican to the bishops in Ire
land relative to the Irish agitation, in
reference to the fund being raised for
Mr. Parnell, says it is intolerable that a
priest, much more a bishop, should
promote such objects. The document
condemns all collections which may be
employed as a means of exciting re
bellion against laws. A despatch lrom,
Rome to the Paris Journal Catfwlique
says: "The Pope has addressed a
strongly worded letter to the Irish
Bishops, desiring them to forbid the
clergy to participate in political meet
ings or encourage subscriptions in ajd
of the present agitation; also recom
mending the use ot respectful language
toward tho State.
