in March, 1879, and at once entered

he has been prompt, energetic and of
unquestioned integrity, while as a citi

social and political affairs of our city
and has manifested a deep interest in
our material growth and . prosperity.
He has formed friendly ties here which
he will dislike to surrender, and which
will be mutually painful. He will leave
here some time during next week, and
will go hence to Baltimore, where he
proposes to engage in business. It is
not yet definitely known who wilt be
his successor as agent of the steamship
